Notes: This major mis-judgement from RKO surprised nobody when it died at the US box office, no matter its critical plaudits. In Melbourne it went out via the Savoy arthouse where the morose 173 minutes were appreciated. Of course it was hardly expected to be at all released into suburban venues, yet Hoyts provided it with a single booking – a Tuesday – at the Malvern Victory. Obviously bottom of the ladder in most rankings.
