Notes: This one is a head-scratcher. A hit in the UK, a starry cast, quality director and based on a best-selling novel. A GBDFD release, yet Hoyts passed it to the Australia to screen before Christmas, for a strong return of 5 weeks…and then…basically nothing. It never played a Hoyts theatre and very few theatres at all. Oddly, it turned up in some western suburbs venues (the Roxy Maidstone, for example) that are not included in this survey before its eventual quiet Tuesday opening at the Box Hill Rialto. A mystery for sure. In any case, only four bookings, all on Tuesdays (placing it at #1 for Tuesdays as a % of all bookings) and all top billed.
